This is how to analyse the thereapeutic function of the various decoctions part Eighty Three

Hey,  I'm back after a short break and how is everybody?  Let's start straight on the analysis of the Xiao Ji Yin Zi, using 
  • Dang Gui

to act more on as the division 4th officer's herb indirectly fuelling the desired reactions to stop bleeding, in the TCM perspective.  So, without further delay, let's dive in to the analysis.







Amongst the many divisional 4th officers' herb in this formula:


  • Dang Gui - being warm in its primary natural property invigorate the blood
  • as well as remove blood stasis effectively in the TCM perspective


The reasons for selection of Dang Gui as the 4th Division Officer's herb:

  • 1) is a regulative TCM gynaecological remedy for female reproduction purposes
  • 2) to invigorate the blood primarily
  • 3) ease abdominal cold pain due to warm deficiency
  • 4) eliminating carbuncles
  • 5)  relieve constipation due to blood deficiency coupled with scorched effect caused by the dryness found in the gut


Let's start with the threshold established so far:


Association to a Specific Meridian Channel



Dang Gui , which is the root of the  plant called Angelica Sinensis and only the root is used.  The convectionary usage of Dang Gui is divided into 3 types of applications:
  • Tonify the blood __ use the body only minus the head and tail portion
  • Remove blood stasis__ only the tail portion
  • Tonify and invigorate the blood__use the whole piece 

Dang Gui is associated with the: 
  • Heart
  • Liver  
  • Spleen - meridian channels respectively



Specific Taste




Dang Gui 
possesses a sweet taste inclined to pungent smell



Specific Properties




Next, I'll touch on the specific property of  Dang Gui which is Warm.




As a rule of thumb, it is very appropriate to apply:

(Gan Xin Wen Bu Xue Huo Xue Zhi Tong Run Chang ) 

whenever Dang Gui is used.
