How To Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions Part Forty Three

Hey, I'm back to continue on how to analyse the therapeutic functions of Can Ha San.

Similarly, the selection and reason why they are the minister's herbs in the decoction would be shown below as follow:
Minister's herbs:-

  • Fu Ling
  • Xing Ren
  • Sang Bai Pi

I'll not repeat the presentation of how to analyse the therapeutic functions of the various decoctions(Fu Ling, Xing Ren and Sang Bai Pi in this blog).  Please start with some revision from part 13 onwards so that you would realise that you have covered so much with me.  Give yourself a pat on the shoulder.

Nevertheless, it is good to provide and keep the reasons briefly why they become the minister's herbs because of their individual properties and so on.

Xing Ren  is suitably used for these purposes:

  • Moisturise generated phlegm heat in the lungs causing large intestinal conduction disorders and constipation(laxative)
  • Lubricate the Lung to ease and drop cough
  • Dispersing wind
  • Eliminating stagnation

Sang Bai Pi is suitably used for these purposes:
  • Disperse Lung's heat to subdue cough and therefore would dissolve phlegm
  • Reduce oedema
  • Hypotensive capabilities which is an important factor to remember, watch out for hypertension and hypotension patients.

Fu Ling mainly:
  • Invigorate the Spleen and remove wetness.
  • Ease urinary hesitancy
  • Reduce All types of oedema;
  • Calm  palpitation and insomnia.

In addition, Xing Ren would complement with Sang Bai Pi to disburse Lung's heat, relieving the asthmatic cough.

I'll leave you now to prepare the next interesting blog to be published next week.

Best of all,

Xiong

This Is How To Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions Part Forty Two

Hey, I'm back to continue on the next formula which is the difference between Hei Xi Dan and Can Ha San.  All these can only be tested and realised with the following phenomenas taken place:

  • when the child has been coughing for a reasonable time
  • the intrinsic body nature being easily infected with the cold or heaty virus

So I had discussed with you on the analysis of Hei Xi Dan and obviously the next is to commence with the analysis of:

  • Can Ha San with these 6 individual herbs components
  1. Ren Shen
  2. Ha Jie
  3. Fu Lin
  4. Xing Ren
  5. Sang Bai Pi
  6. Gan Cao

Therefore, the Monarch herbs are:
  • Ren Shen
  • Ha Jie
As usual, we've to bear in mind the threshold created in the previous blogs for the herb selection.  This time round, it is necessary to refresh your memories that the resultant realisation of the child's prolong cough is

  • Kidney Deficiency

and the TCM remedy for this condition is:

  1. to warm the kidneys
  2. and to improve air intake and circulation.

This is How To Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions (part 43).

Association to the Specific Meridian Channel

Ren Shen is better known as Panax Ginseng in Latin and only the root is used.  It is associated with:

  • Lung
  • Heart
  • Spleen
  • Kidney -  Meridian Channels respectively

Ha Jie is better known as Gekko Gecko Linnaeus in Latin and only the empty dry body is used (with all other organs removed). It is associated with:

  • Lung
  • Kidney - Meridian Channels respectively

Specific Taste

The specific taste of Ren Shen is
  • Sweet and
  • Slightly Bitter

The specific taste of Ha Jie is:
  • Salty

Specific Properties

The Specific Property of:

  • Ren Shen is lukewarm.
  • Ha Jie is neutral

Once again, I've to refer back to our topic today as to why Ren Shen and Ha Jie is categorised as monarch's herb in Can Ha San because of its prime role:
to resolve the Chronic cough, with wheezing sound in the following observations:
  • Thick yellow sputum, or coughing up pus stained with blood,
  • Uncomfortable heat in the chest,
  • The body is getting thinner day by day, or the face is swollen
The most suitable comtemporary treatments using  Can Ha San are:
  1. Chronic Brochitis
  2. Bronchiectasis (lung airwsy damaged and widen with coughing out phlegm stained with blood)
As a rule of thumb,

Apply  (Gan Wen Ku Da Bu Yuan Qi Bu Pi Yi Fei Shen Jin Zhi Ke An Shen Zeng Zhi) whenever Ren Shen is used.

Apply (Xian Ping Bu Fei Qi Zhu Shen Yang Ding Chuan Ke Yi Jing Xue) whenever Ha Jie is used.

I'll leave you now as you would need more time to digest this blog. However I'll very excited to be back the soonest to write on the next new blog.

Best of all,

Xiong,
