This Is How To Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions Part Sixty One

I'm back to discuss the next herb, Bai Dou Kou in the list of minister's herbs for Gan Lu Xiao Du Dan.
Obviously, the reasons for the selection of Bai Dou Kou as one of the 4 minister's herb are:

  • Bai Dou Kou is basically similar to Shi Chang Pu as an effective remedy for clearing accumulated cold combined wetness causing mucus or phlegm blocking the narrow air passage especially in the Zhong Jiao area.
  • Using its primary property being pungent and spicy to
    • soothe the Qi
    • disperse in the purpose of weakening the virus invasion
    • invigorate blood 
    • remove Qi stasis 
  • Anti-nausea effect especially in infant milk regurgitation.






Minister's herb

  • Bai Dou Kou


Association to the Specific Meridian Channel


Bai Dou Kou is better known as Amomum Cardamomum and  only the ripen fruit is used.  It is associated with:  

  • Stomach
  • Lung
  • Spleen -  Meridian Channel respectively 


Specific Taste



The specific taste of Bai Dou Kou is:
  •  Pungent



Specific Property





The specific property of Bai Dou Kou is:
  • Warm
 

As a rule of thumb, it is very appropriate to apply:
  • (Xin Wen Hua Shi Xing Qi Wen Zhong Zhi Ou) 
whenever Bai Dou Kou is used.
