Hey, I'm back to analyse the discrimination between the two formulae:- Zhi Zi Chi Tang
- Ge Gen Huang Qin Huang Lian Tang
Nevertheless, this is how to analyse the therapeutic functions of the various decoctions part Fifty.
The Discrimination
Zhi Zi Chi Tang
This decoction is best applied to when these observations are known:
- 1) Feverish temperature recorded due to Heat stagnation at chest diaphragm area
- 2) Dysphoria and as a result insomnia syndrome is realised.
- 3) Heart Pain caused by heat stagnation
- 4) Red tongue with yellowish coating
The main reason is due to repetitive insomnia caused by heat accumulated in the chest diaphragm area.
Ge Gen Huang Qin Huang Lian Tang
This decoction is best applied to when these observation are noticed:
1) Feverish temperature recorded
2) Dysphoria usually accompanied by insomnia
3) Polydipsia
4) Chest tightness
5) Sweating
6) Diarrhea
7) Burning senation at the anus
8) Red tongue with yellowish coating
The main cause is usually due to the prior cold virus invasion not treated properly and as a result heat generated move inwards from Tai Yang level to Yang Ming level.***

Zhi Zi is not suitable for patient with diarrhea because it will worsen the diarrhea condition.
However, Huang Qin and Huang Lian are very appropriate to use for diarrhea affected patient. The key point is here and so please remember.
The rest is very straight forward and simple.
I'll leave you to jot down the important points above and digest it with time before l return with the next new treatment formula.
Best of all,
Xiong
