Mai Ya
The reasons why Mai Ya is selected as a monarch's herb in this formula are:
A) It can effectively eliminate indigestion caused by starchy food resulting in bloating and pain.B) It is often used as a natural remedy for weaning mothers and milk stasis among females. Here is a little addition for explanation of what is milk stasis.
Milk stasis is a buildup of milk in the breast that can lead to inflammation and mastitis. The only possible cause is when the milk ducts are blocked or plugged, preventing milk from flowing out during feeding.
Mastitis is the inflammation of the breast tissue causing pain.
Association to a Specific Meridian Channel
Mai Ya is more commonly known as dried barley sprout after a simple short period cultivated germination and has a scientific name as Hordeum Vulgare.
It is associated with:
- Spleen
- Stomach
- Liver - Meridian Channel respectively
Specific Taste
The specific taste of Mai Ya is sweet.
Specific Properties
The Specific Property of:
Mai Ya is neutral
As for the rule of thumb:
Apply (Gan Ping Xiao Shi He Zhong Hui Ru ) whenever Mai Ya is used.
