This is how to Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions part 97

Hey, I'm back to kickoff the next formula in the series as we had done quite a bit in the previous months.  As usual, the last 2 herbs for the Xiao Ru Wan are:

  1. Chen Pi  and
  2. Gan Cao

of which we had analysed them and is very useful if all of you can revise them on your own.

Nevertheless these are the important points for Chen Pi (4th officer's herb) and Gan Cao which is very obvious, the messenger's herb:

  • Chen Pi: -

  • primarily, it would coordinate and slow down the strong effect of monarch and minister herbs like that of Gan Cao.

  • Gan Cao: -

  • directing the various medicinal power of individual herb to the infected organs to start the healing process.  (In association with a Specific Meridian Channel)
  • reconcile and harmonise the effects of various herbs to a moderate and digestive level.

So, today I'm going to touch on the new formula called Zhi Shi Dao Zhi Wan.

It comprises of the following 8 herbs:

Da Huang

Zhi Shi

Huang Lian

Huang Qing

Fu Ling

Ze Xie

Bai Zhu

Shen Qu

The "this is how to analyse the therapeutic functions of the various decoctions part 98" will be done in the next blog.

The reasons for selecting this formula are;

  • Bloating and pain follow by Diarrhoea
  • Diarrhoea
  • Constipation follow by Diarrhoea

Must be observed.

The main cause for the indigestion is due to wetness and heat generated within the mid section.

Therefore, it is necessary to use Zhi Shi Dao Zhi Wan to

  • Ease Indigestion and Unblock Stagnation

Through the defecation.

I would like to leave you now so that you can digest this blog with more time. So until then, stay safe.

Best of all,

This is how to Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions part ninety-six

Hey, I'm back and ready to analyse the fourth monarch's herb  in the formula and we had done the same for Shen Qu which is the third monarch's herb.  Please  refer to the previous blog if necessary.

Without further delay, let's dive in to analyse :

Mai Ya

The reasons why Mai Ya is selected as a monarch's herb in this formula are:

A) It can effectively eliminate indigestion caused by starchy food resulting in bloating and pain.

B) It is often used as a natural remedy for weaning mothers and milk stasis among females.  Here is a little addition for explanation of what is milk stasis.

Milk stasis is a buildup of milk in the breast that can lead to inflammation and mastitis. The only possible cause is when the milk ducts are blocked or plugged, preventing milk from flowing out during feeding.

Mastitis is the inflammation of the breast tissue causing pain.

Association to a Specific Meridian Channel

Mai Ya is more commonly known as  dried barley sprout after a simple short period cultivated germination and has a scientific name as Hordeum Vulgare.
It is associated with:

  1. Spleen
  2. Stomach
  3. Liver - Meridian Channel respectively

Specific Taste

The specific taste of  Mai Ya is sweet.

Specific Properties

The Specific Property of:

Mai Ya is neutral

As for the rule of thumb:

Apply (Gan Ping Xiao Shi He Zhong Hui Ru ) whenever Mai Ya is used.
