This is how to analyze the therapeutic functions of the various Decoctions part 123

Hey, I'm back to analyze the next group of three Minister's herbs, namely;  Niu Huang, Xí Jiao and Dai Mao in our new formula, Zhǐ Bao Dan dedicated for:








Relief Shock and Resuscitation



As you can see I had just completed on the analysis of Niu Huang and Xí Jiao in the previous blogs which is still very much fresh in the memory, and so it's only necessary to list out the purposes and reasons here; 

The reasons for the other 2 Minister's herbs being selected to complement each other are:

  • Niu Huang- being bitter and cold nevertheless is capable of awakening unconsciousness via it's cool property 
  • Xi Jiao - being bitter, salty and cold perform in the same way like Niu Huang to complement each other to awake the unconsciousness



We are still within the perimeter of the above and not drift away.




The purposes and reasons why Dai Mao was selected among the 2 other minister's herbs; Niu Huang and Xí Jiao are:

1) it is a natural powerful regulative remedy for:

2) it is a very effective remedy for smallpox or boils due to the unsweltering heat in the TCM perspective.




We are still within the perimeter of the above and not drift away.

Association to a Specific Meridian Channel


Dai Mao is the outer shell of the sea turtles family 

and is more better known as Carapace.

The only species adored so far is known as Erelmochelys Imbricata.



It is associated with: 

  • Heart 
  • Liver - Meridian Channel respectively 




Specific Taste


The specific taste of Dai Mao is sweet inclined to salty.



Specific Properties


The Specific Property of

Dai Mao is cold
