This is how to analyze the therapeutic functions of the various Decoctions part 125

Hey, I'm back to continue on the analysis but this time would be to show you the difference between them, namely;

  • Ling Jiao Gou Deng Tang
  • An Gong Niu Huang Wan
  • Zhi Bao Dan

We're going to take a different approach to differentiate one from another.

There are two ways to breakdown the comparison between the three formulae so that the difference is clearer.

Firstly, let's list out the similar herbs used in both for An Gong Niu Huang Wan and Zhi Bao Dan.  There are a total of 6 similar herbs and they're as below:

  • Niu Huang
  • Bing pian
  • She Xiang
  • Xi Jiao
  • Zhu Sha
  • Xiong Huang

So, now it's clear that An Gong Niu Huang Wan and Zhi Bao Dan are to a certain extent similar in functions, that's they both awake the unconsciousness by 2 different methods:
  1. Aromatic Awakening -  Zhi Bao Dan
  2. Eliminates heat Awakening -  An Gong Niu Huang Wan

Zhi Bao Dan utilise An Xí Xiang which has a very pungent smell to achieve the aromatic Awakening effect whereas An Gong Niu Huang Wan deployed 3 powerful herbs to eliminates heat from the body, namely;
  • Huáng Lian
  • Huáng Qing
  • Zhi Zi
to achieve the awakening effect.

Nevertheless,

The determinative observation is;

  • Clenching fists
  • and clench the teeth tightly.

Why is this so? It is due to heat had invaded the pericardium and related phlegm is blocking the air passage way in the TCM perspective.

So, it's appropriate to apply An Gong Niu Huang Wan and to use Zhi Bao Dan when there's no presence of  aforesaid observation.

Ling Jiao Gou Deng Tang syndrome

The pathogenic causes for this syndrome are quite similar to the rest except that heat had invaded only at the liver and not to the pericardium as yet in the TCM perspective.

Nevertheless, this application is more appropriate in most cases especially among children because fist and jaw clenching would be telltales sign of unconsciousness classified as critical situation.

This is how to analyse the therapeutic functions of the various decoctions part 126 would continue on a new formula.

I would never say it could not happen, when the sign of all that we had discussed turned out in front of us, we will have to decide on a case to case basic.

There are so many other blogs out there but none teach you why, when and where to use the relevant herbs, only I give the reasons for 3 W; why, when and where.

I would leave you now so that you can have more time to digest this blog.
