This is how to analyze the therapeutic functions of the various Decoctions part 122

Hey, I'm back to analyze one of the three monarch's herbs, namely; An Xi Xiang in our new formula, Zhǐ Bao Dan dedicated for:



Relief Shock and Resuscitation



And as usual it's necessary to list out the purposes and reasons why the other 2 monarch's herbs are selected to complement each other;

  • She Xiang - being pungent and warm nevertheless is capable of awakening unconsciousness via it's aromatic therapeutic property 
  • Bing Pian - being bitter, pungent and slightly cold perform in the same way like She Xiang to complement An Xi Xiang to awake the unconsciousness.

The reasons why An Xi Xiang is selected as the monarch's herb which is further break into 2 parts as below:

Association to a Specific Meridian Channel



An Xi Xiang is the resin drained from the trunk of Styrax family plant 
and is more scientifically known as
Benzoin .

The specific taste of An Xi Xiang is bitter and pungent.




Specific Properties


The Specific Property of

An Xi Xiang is luke warm.
