This is how to analyze the therapeutic functions of the various Decoction part 109

Hey, I'm back to start with the analysis of the next exciting formula;

  • Ling Jiao Gou Teng Tang

with the first of the 2 monarch's herb known as:

  • Ling Yang Jiao which is the horn of the Saiga Tatarica Antelope.

This is how to Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions part 109.

The reasons why Ling Yang Jiao is selected as the monarch's herb which is further break into 4 parts as below:

  • 1) it is a natural powerful regulative remedy for jerking of the 4 limbs due to shock and epilepsy
  • 2) it is also effective for dizziness  caused by upsurge of the liver's Yang in the TCM perspective.
  • 3) it is a good natural remedy for headache and sore eyes due to the sweltering heat accumulated from the liver in the TCM perspective.
  • 4) it is a very good remedy for  Dirilium due to the unsubdued sweltering heat in the TCM perspective.

Relief Shock and Resuscitation

We are still within the perimeter of the above and not drift away.

Association to a Specific Meridian Channel

Ling Yang Jiao is the horn of the Saiga's Antelopes species and is more commonly known as Saiga Tatarica from Xin Jiang and nearby regions of northern China.

It is associated with:

  • Heart
  • Liver - Meridian Channel respectively

Specific Taste

The specific taste of  Ling Yang Jiao is salty.

Specific Properties

The Specific Property of:

Ling Yang Jiao is cold.

As for the rule of thumb:

Apply (Píng Gān Xí Fēng, Qīng Gān Míng Mù, Qīng Rè Jiě Dú) whenever Ling Yang Jiao is used.

I'll stop here and let you have more time to digest them and not scary.

This is how to Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions part 108

Hey, I'm back to bring you into a more critical pathological chapter,  i.e.

  • a convulsion due to sweltering heat accumulated is observed.

Immediately, our decision would be to Repress and sedate the convulsion.

Critical discrimination

We are now facing convulsion when the

  • 1) sweltering heat (high fever cannot be Subdued)

becomes so severe that had penetrated the Ying Xue level (jue yin = liver meridian)so much so that convulsion would turn into

  • 2) unconsciousness, or even seeing contraction and jerking of upper and lower limbs and in short time turn into seizures.

Pulse Reading

Amplitude: fast and tight; like the guitar string

Tongue colour:  dark red _:-critical

We would use these three formulae one by one, namely;

  • Ling Jiao Gou Teng Tang☆☆
  • An Gong Niu Huang Wan
  • Zhi Bao Dan

to Repress and resuscitate the situation on case by case basis and off course, apply Zhen Jing Xi Feng meaning

  • Keep the convulsion in control and calm the penetrating wind in the TCM perspective.

We are now in the new chapter called,

Relief Shock and Resuscitation

The very first formula to be analysed in this blog would be:

Ling Jiao Gou Teng Tang

Which comprises of the following ten herbs:

Ling Yang Jiao
Gou Teng
Shang Ye
Ju Hua
Bai Shao
Sheng Di
Bei Mu
Zhu Ru
Fu Shen
Gan Cao

With Ling Yang Jiao and Gou Teng as the 2 monarch's herbs.

This is how to Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions part 108.

As for the rule of thumb:

Apply (Liáng gān xí fēng zēng yè shū jīn.) whenever Ling Jiao Gou Teng Tang   is used.

I'll stop here and let you have more time to digest them and not scary.

Best of all,

This is how to Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions part 107

Hey, I'm back after a short break to kick start the comparison between the two formulae;

Zhu Sha An Shen Wan and

Ci Zhu Wan

Both are used to calm a frightened child with some other accompanied symptoms.

So, remember Zhu Sha An Shen Wan comprised of these 5 ingredients, namely;

  • Zhu Sha
  • Huang Lian
  • Dang Gui
  • Sheng Di
  • Gan Cao

We would talk about Huang Lian, the Chinese golden thread again, which is associated with the Heart meridian channel and is dedicated to cool the scorched heart's Yin.

Dang Gui would compliments and tonify the Yin with Sheng Di.

28 types of pulse reading

So, when and how to confirm that the Heart's Yin is so scorched and driedup is by taking the pulse reading.

The reading should be:

  • Amplitude: narrow
  • Speed : fast
  • Tongue coating: yellow and thick
  • Colour: red especially at the tip

The rest of the decoction that further cool the blood flow, eliminating the remaining heat that caused;

cardinal anxiety

and how the

Yin Blood became so much scorched by the intense heat, and all that's needed is to replenish the blood loss by invigorating the blood, had to be revised by browsing through the earlier blogs.

All these findings would suffice Whenever and where Zhu Sha An Shen Wan should be used.

Ci Zhu Wan

on the contrary, is applicable for Yin deficiency:

  • Observations like Tinnitus, blur vision are reasons caused by Liver and Kidney's Yin deficiency.
  • Complaints of insomnia and cardinal anxiety are caused by Yin deficiency.
  • On sighting of asthmatic breathing is also caused by overall kidney's deficiency.

Pulse reading

  • Amplitude: narrow and afloat
  • Speed: Moderate to fast
  • Coating: thin or none
  • Reddish at cheek bone

These appearances would confirm the  overall Yin Deficiency and Ci Zhu Wan is more suitable.

This is how to Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions part 107 will continue in the next blog.

I'll stop here and let you have more time to digest them and not scary.

This is how to AnalyseTheTherapeutic functions of the various decoctions part 106

Hey, I'm back to start with the analysis of the Ci Zhu Wan, with the only monarch's herb known as:

  • Ci Shi which is an ore mixture with magnetic effect.

The remaining 2 herbs were analysed earlier in May to July this year.

Nevertheless, the reasons of why and how they exist make it necessary to explain below.

  • ZHU SHA compliments Ci Shi to calm the frightened child in the shock situation as the minister's herb.
  • SHEN QU perform as Messenger's herb to prevent harmful effects from the Zhu Sha and Ci Shi thus regulating the whole decoction suitable especially for Yin deficiency.

It is always the situation whereby a frightened child with uneasy emotion is not the only observance, the complaint of blur vision, tinnitus  and insomnia are the differences in between the formula application.

This is how to Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions part 106.

The reasons why Ci Shi is selected as the monarch's herb which is further break into 3 parts as below:

  • 1) it is a natural powerful regulative remedy for insomnia, cardinal anxiety caused by Yin deficiency.
  • 2) it is also powerful remedy for tinnitus and blur vision caused by liver and kidney's Yin deficiency in the TCM perspective.
  • 3) it is a good natural remedy for asthmatic breathing due to overall kidney's deficiency.

Relief Shock and Resuscitation

We are still within the perimeter of the above and not drift away.

Association to a Specific Meridian Channel

Ci Shi is an ore and more commonly known as the magnetite.

It is associated with:

  • Heart
  • Liver
  • Kidney - Meridian Channel respectively

Specific Taste

The specific taste of  Ci Shi is pungent inclined to salty.

Specific Properties

The Specific Property of:

Ci Shi is cold.

As for the rule of thumb:

Apply (Qián yáng ān shén, cōng ěr míng mù, nà qì píng chuǎn.) whenever Ci Shi is used.

I'll stop here and let you have more time to digest them and not scary.

This is how to Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions part 105

Hey, I'm back to complete the analysis of the Zhu Sha An Shen Wan, with the explanation necessary as similar with all other formula analysis, on the remaining monarch's herb and other 2 minister's herbs with Zhi Gan Cao as the messenger's herb.

It is always the situation whereby a frightened child with uneasy emotion is observed and the other formula is Ci Zhu Wan suitable for the observations with slight differences;

It comprises of 3 herbs only,namely;

  • Ci Shi
  • Shen Qu
  • Zhu Sha

The comparison of the 2 formulae will be our prime discrimination in our forthcoming blog 107.

Now come; the explanation of the other minister's herb,

Huang Lian

in Zhu Sha An Shen Wan:

It compliments with Zhu Sha to further cool the blood flow, eliminating the remaining heat that caused cardinal anxiety.

The fact that we had mentioned the Yin Blood was so much scorched by the intense heat, and all that's needed is to replenish the blood loss by invigorating the blood using:

Dang Gui

compliments and tonify the Yin with:

Sheng Di.

Zhi Gan Cao regulates the whole decoction.

I'll stop here and let you have more time to digest them and no vomitting.

This is how to Analyse The Therapeutic Functions Of The Various Decoctions part 104

Hey, I'm back to start òn the next analysis of the first herb in our new formula:

ZHU SHA AN SHEN WAN

and is none other than the herb;

Zhu Sha

The reasons why Zhu Sha is selected as a monarch's herb in this formula are:

A) The sedative property of  Zhu Sha, therefore is sufficient to calm and pacify a frightened child turning a little jerky in the TCM perspective pertaining to Zhu Sha An Shen Wan.  A low dose of  Zhu San is Sedative found through many investigations and caution is needed in using it because of its mercuric content.

B) The cold property of Zhu Sha can effectively eliminate insomnia and related symptoms caused by heated up energy that scorched the heart causing blood Yin deficiency. (Refer to pulse reading below)

Pulse reading in TCM perspective

Over here, it's just time and necessary to introduce some fine points of TCM diagnosis because we had reach the next level of TCM fundamentals to be implanted.

So the correct method in aligning the 3 fingers to read the 28 different types or more variations of pulse reading is:

The index finger placed closer to the wristline with your palm up, look at the area between your wrist bone and the tendon on the thumb side of your wrist. The next 2 fingers placed in line with the index horizontally.  Radial pulse can be taken on either wrist.
Use the tip of the index, third and ring  fingers to feel the pulse in the radial artery.

So, the question on why and how to know whether the heart is being heated-up to a intense degree causing Yin blood to deficit or better described as used up in this case, are depicted  by reading this pulse correctly.

You should get:

A thin amplitude and fast reading coupled with red tongue especially at the tip confirm the above.

Amplitude and fast are 2 main issues here.  It is just a little technical here, I assure you that over time you would get it slowly and gradually.

Amplitude inshort refers to thickness and anything above 4 beats on one breath of YOU is fast.

Relief Shock and Resuscitation
We are still within the perimeter of the above and not drift away.

Association to a Specific Meridian Channel

Zhu Sha is an ore and more commonly known as hexagonal cinnabar.

It is associated with:

  1. Heart Meridian Channel only

Specific Taste

The specific taste of  Zhu Sha is sweet.

Specific Properties

The Specific Property of:

Zhu Sha is cold.

As for the rule of thumb:

Apply (Zhèn Xīn An Shén, Qīng Rè Jiě Dú) whenever Zhu Sha is used.

I'll stop here and let you have more time to digest them and no vomitting.
